I am aware of the need to maintain privacy and confidentiality. I always write in a diary about your child's day (which you take home) and discuss with you any issues or concerns.

ADMINISTERING MEDICINE

I am happy to administer medicine to a child but I require signed parental written consent to do this.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

Although I take every precaution to keep the children in my care safe, it is inevitable that minor bumps and scratches may happen, especially when playing outside.  I hold a current Early Years first aid certificate and keep a fully equipped first aid kit on the premises and also in the car and any minor injuries will receive appropriate first aid.

If an emergency illness or injury occurs the parent(s) will be contacted as soon as possible.  If necessary, an ambulance will be called or I will take the child directly to the nearest hospital or their own GP and meet the parent(s) there.

Even in an emergency, a childminder cannot give permission for medical assistance/treatment, regardless of any written instruction to the doctor from the parent(s)/carer(s) of the child. In a “life or death” situation medical professionals will give any necessary treatment.
